Step 1: Position Your Webcam

Position your webcam as desired. Depending on your model, you may be able to screw the base into a tripod, clip or hook it onto your monitor, or place it on a flat surface.

Step 2: Plug In The USB Cable

Find the correct USB port in your computer and plug the USB cable into the port. Be aware that some USB cables need to be inserted the right way up to avoid damage.

Step 3: Driver Installation

Newer Windows computers will automatically sense a new device and install necessary drivers. If not, you may need to manually install or update device drivers.

Step 4: Set Up Your Microphone

Most webcams come with a built-in microphone. To use this for video calls and recordings:

  • Open the Start Menu and select Settings.
  • Click the System icon and the Sound tab.
  • Select your webcam from the "Input" menu.

Step 5: (Optional) Install Software

Some webcams come with optional capture software that gives you greater control and more options. Download and follow directions from the manufacturer's website.
